Gary Perigan's 1972 Cutlass Supreme

(Vintage photo of Gary's car)
Notice the half vinyl roof on Gary's 65/65 car and the California-based Supreme here: Cameo White 1972 Cutlass Supreme 442 clone Anyone know if this was commonly added by an Olds region/zone?
I've seen one more car almost exactly like the white one on the link, but I believe it was out of Washington state. Same color combo, OAI and only in slightly better condition.

History: Gary and a friend bought this car from another friend who bought the car from the original owners son. The car was purchased new in Whittier, CA. A '72 Hurst/Olds-style half vinyl top was added at some point, and the son was in the process of converting the car to an automatic. Gary's friend bought the car from the son about 12 years ago, and the car then sat outside in the high desert of Apple valley, CA. The body is in very nice shape but the paint and interior are sun-baked. Gary and his friend are currently restoring the car as of May 2009.
